Student Enrolment Terms and Conditions - Please read our Terms and Conditions before enrolling.
ENROLMENT AND CLASSES
- Membership is compulsory for all students of the Alliance Française de Darwin.
- Classes are subject to variation due to enrolment numbers and days may be changed at the discretion of the Alliance Française de Darwin.
- To ensure the best quality in teaching the Alliance Française de Darwin reserves the right to redirect a student to another class level if the student’s level does not match the other members of the class.
- New students who do not complete the beginners’ class need to have their level assessed prior to joining a different class. The assessment test is available online.
- Missed classes cannot be refunded or transferred.
- Classes will not be held on NT declared public holidays. When enrolling with a group class, the full term is owed.
- Certification of attendance will be provided to students who have attended a minimum of 8 classes per term upon request.
PAYMENT
- Payment is expected at the time of enrollment. All other arrangements should be discussed with the class coordinator.
- Following confirmation of the class commencement, there is a cooling off period of 2 business days following the first class. During this cooling off period, the student can withdraw and get a refund of their payment minus a $25 administration fee (see below). If a student withdraws during the second week, they may receive a refund of 50% of their class fees. After the second week, no refunds will be issued and discounts for the following term or transfer of funds to a private package can be discussed on a case by case basis. Please contact the class coordinator.
- Pro-rata payment is not available for group classes.
- Refunds : Every refund will incur a $25 administration fee that will be deducted from the amount refunded.
CANCELLATION/RESCHEDULING
- The Alliance Française de Darwin reserves the right to cancel courses if minimum enrolments are not received.
- If the Alliance Française de Darwin cancels a course, students will be fully refunded or offered a full credit on a future course.
- If a class is cancelled by the Alliance, the students will be notified by email by the relevant teacher. The default catch up day will be saturday morning before the last week of class of the term.
- Cancellation of a private class by the student: We require at least a 24-hour notice of cancellation. Students who fail to attend or to cancel 24 hours in advance will be charged the full amount.
DISCOUNTS
- Early bird discount: Tuition for all group classes will benefit from a 5% discount until Sunday of the first week of classes. Register early! This replaces the returning student discount.
MEMBERSHIP
- You can download your membership card from your profile on our online portal. You can save your card on your device or print it yourself, please note no physical cards will be issued by Alliance Française de Darwin.
- Family memberships may be shared within a household. Please notify the class coordinator so that we may link accounts.
OTHER
- If you attend one of the Alliance Française events please be advised that photos and videos will be taken for use on the Alliance Française de Darwin website, social media, marketing materials and all other publications. Attendees consent to their filming and sound recording as members of the audience. By entering any event site you agree to being filmed or photographed and consent to the AFD using your image for marketing or promotional purposes. If you do not wish to be filmed or photographed please speak to the photographer or our team. If you have any queries email info@afdarwin.org.
- By attending an event organised by AF Darwin where alcohol is served, attendees agree to the following conditions: • alcohol will be served in accordance with Northern Territory liquor licensing laws and may be limited at the organiser’s discretion • alcohol will only be served to persons aged 18 years or over and valid photo identification may be requested • the organiser reserves the right to refuse service and/or remove any person who appears intoxicated or behaves in an unsafe, disruptive, or inappropriate manner • attendees are responsible for their own alcohol consumption and are encouraged to drink responsibly, consume food and water, and use safe transport options • abusive, aggressive, or unsafe behaviour will not be tolerated and may result in removal without refund • all venue rules must be respected and any damage caused may be charged to the responsible individual • the organiser accepts no responsibility for incidents arising from excessive alcohol consumption • the organiser reserves the right to modify, suspend, or cancel alcohol service at any time for legal, safety, or operational reasons.
